Bodhi's first Christmas and New Years 2009!

Here's the play by play of Bodhi's first Christmas!

We had dinner over at Ba and Ong Ngoai's (CJ's parents) house. Mark played the guitar for a captivated Bodhi...he's already planning on toddler guitar lessons. We didn't get to see Uncle Nic this time around, but did get to see him at Thanksgiving, thankfully.

<----- On the airplane

At just less than 3 months old, I was a bit nervous about taking Bodhi on the plane trip to Sacramento. It's only about an hour and 20 minutes, and there was no way we were going to do the 8 hour drive each way, so we ventured the craziness of airports at christmas time and the cattle yard known as a Southwest airplane. We were counting on the flight time being just around his sleepy time, which was one of the tips we got from other parents. Besides our flight being delayed Bodhi was fantastic. He did have the best seat in the house, sprawled across mama and daddy's laps. He chewed on the pacifier at all the right times to equalize his ears.

We went over to Bodhi's Great-Grandmother Simmons' house on Christmas morning. After trying to accomodate his morning naps and the late night getting in to Sac, the anticipation of Bodhi's arrival was great! Within a minute or so of entering, Bodhi was swept into the arms of relatives and mama and daddy were nowhere to be found.

We were able to spend a lot of time with the Simmons side of the family, and even convinced Great-Grandma Simmons into taking a picture (not an easy feat). 4 generations!

We were also lucky enough to have Aunt Patricia (Bodhi's paternal Great-Grandmother's sister) and Cousin Kathy come over to Grandpa Bob's house to meet Bodhi.

Aunt Gail came over with a few of our other friends and took some great pictures, as she always does!

This is one of my favorites, with Erin and Joaquin.

Bodhi was enthralled by all the fun things to look at in Grandma Linda's house. I was asked to omit pictures of her on the blog, so I'll just post a picture of the most amazing salad I had in 2008. It's not an easy feat to satisfy a discriminating vegetarian critic. A wonderful Christmas present! Thanks Linda!

Today is New Years Day 2009, which also happens to be my 32nd birthday. I can't remember the last time I didn't stay up past midnight on New Year's Eve... especially since it's a count down to my birthday. Well last night all three of us were asleep by 8:30 pm. Bodhi woke me up for a feeding at 12:30am last night (he usually wakes at 3am) as if he wanted to make sure he was the first person to wish me a happy 2009. (Daddy was fast asleep and does not remember any of this happening.) Last year at this time, I had no idea I'd be so blessed to have this little boy in my life and he reminds me of how lucky I am everyday. (And every morning at 3am.) I also have been reminded what an amazing partner Ryan is and am so happy to have him to love. This was a much quieter birthday than any in recent memory, but the one I can honestly say I've felt the most loved. Cheers to love and happiness in 2009!
