Bodhi sitting up & laughing up a storm

We have been practicing the delicate art of balance. Bodhi usually prefers to stand but we've been trying to coax him into sitting upright by himself, and it's going pretty well. Sometimes when he's reaching for something he tips over, but don't we all! We've (actually I've) been trying to see if his hair will spike up on the top. I brush it back after a bath and it sometimes stays. Two women today remarked about his "red" hair... we'll see. At least it will be spikey red hair!!He's also been wildly entertained by simple things lately. I have been saying "Booooom" and he laughs histerically. He also likes it when I farting noises with my mouth. Sometimes I forget and do it at work although I don't get the same reaction from my co-workers...

5 months old already!!

Our little baby is turning into a little boy! I swear he gets bigger everyday, and I'm starting to forget what he looked like as a newborn. Thank goodness for all these photos we've been taking!

For Valentine's Day, Gramma Linda sent a care package with chocolate for the parents and some cute baby Crocs and a onesie for Bodhi. The funny thing was that when Bode and I were driving home to find the lovely present at the doorstep, I was singing to him in the car just like the shirt says! We spend most of our days in song, which is not a bad way to live. It's also funny when I'll make up some random rhyming jingle and Ryan joins in on the second chorus like he's co-writer of the song.

We were lucky enough to see Aunt Tede, who is Rose's twin sister. I haven't seen her in probably 10 years or so, and she was so excited to meet Mr. Bodhi. Gramma Rosie made Bodhi an environmentally friendly fleece blanket and sausage, and Aunt Tede brought Bodhi a frog with no neck. Rose also made Bodhi a St. Patrick's Day visor with green beer steins on it, which is perfect because Bodhi doesn't want to get a sunburn on PB's St. Patty's Day pub crawl. Thanks!!

Last week I took Bodhi to a small playground to sit and watch all the little kids playing. He really loved seeing them run around and was so excited when I took him over to one of the playground pieces, a cement turtle, and placed him on the turtles neck. I got a little emotional when I saw his reaction, I'd never seen him so happy. The turtle didn't move or anything, I think it was that he felt a part of the excitement and fun that he saw the other kids experiencing. There are a number of parks within walking distance from our house so Ryan and I took Bodhi to one right on the bay. There were kids running around and screaming everywhere. We put Bodhi on another cement turtle, and he loved it. The swing was the real excitement of the day though, with big smiles and giggles!

I'm putting this last one in because I just think it's funny. Bodhi has been really active lately, kicking, reaching for everything, and throwing his arms and legs around. This picture is from one of his naps. He managed to kick out of one side of his outfit, grab his sweatpants off the railing, and kick the blanket off. Good thing it's warm in San Diego!

Stop the presses... Bodhi takes a bottle!

It only took two full days of tears and frustration for our boy Bodhi to give in and accept the bottle. My mom tried everything and finally got him to take it if he is in front of the mirror, rocked, and she doesn't look at him. I think he was convinced by the little boy in the mirror that it was okay to take the bottle! Last week was hectic for sure, I had 180 emails when I got to work Monday morning. I'm going to have a tough time supervising coworkers and not being there to actually supervise them since I'm only there 3 days a week. But I will have to make sure I'm organized and specific with everyone so that the schedule works out. I already had Ryan's firm in for a meeting last week, so I know that he's getting busy too.
We took Bodhi in for his 4-month immunizations a couple weeks ago (he's 4.75 months old now) and he did great with his shots. I think it helps that the nurse was a lot faster than last time. He is in the 96th percentile for height and 89th for weight. The doctor sent us for an x-ray because he said that Bode's hips were a bit "tight" but they checked out just normal. We are gonna help him stretch them out a bit and do some baby yoga.

We celebrated this weekend by going to a restaurant named Firefly right on the bay for a wonderful sunset dinner. Bodhi was even generous enough to sleep through most of dinner! Here are a few pics, notice that I have two desserts in front of me, then the chocolate mousse gets abducted by my husband.

Thursday we were lucky enough to get to visit with Rosia, who was in town for business. She and her husband Troy were our neighbors at Lion's Park in American Samoa. They live on Oahu now along with many of our other Am Sam friends. Rosia and Bodhi really liked each other!

It was also Naomi Giffen's 1st birthday last weekend! (She is Liz and Jason's daughter, sister to Jack) And she couldn't be any more gorgeous of a little girl. Even when covered in chocolate.
