Savoring the last week of maternity leave

One of my goals for maternity leave was to visit every museum in Balboa Park. Well I go back to work on Monday so we made a mad dash for the museums today... and I'm still a few shy. While at the Museum of Art today an older lady absolutely fell in love with Bodhi...he had his human teddy bear outfit on, which makes him even more of a chick magnet. They were smiling away at each other, ignoring all of the beautiful artwork on the walls. As the lady was being pulled away by her husband she told me that I made a beautiful baby and that I should have been the mom who had 8 babies. I replied with "Do I look crazy?"

No response.

Here are a few photos from the Japanese Friendship Garden where we made friends with a baby hummingbird, koi, and banzai trees. The tea garden had one of the best green teas I've ever had...it was a cherry blossom green tea and had just a wonderful flavor. If you're a green tea fan (I'm a bit of a tea connoisseur. Well, tea and tiramisu.) you must try it when you're in SD. And invite me of course!

Bodhi was worn out by the early evening and fell asleep right away after being fed. Luckily he has resumed his sleep-through-the-night routine just in time for me to go back to work. It willl take me a while to get adjusted to not waking up at 3:30am like I have been. I can't even remember the last time I slept more than 4 hours in a row!! No complaints though, I feel lucky to have him sleep so well through the night. I also feel lucky that I've been able to spend the last 4.5 months with him at home.
As you can see he really enjoys breastfeeding, which has made it tough for me trying to bottle train him. We only have 5 more days of practice until I'm at work so I hope he gets the hang of it soon!! We've spent about $40 on assorted bottles and nipples trying to see if he has a preference. I think he's just too smart for his own good. I can't blame him for not wanting to take a cheap, cold imitation when he can snuggle with mama. Wish us luck!

I'm also throwing this picture in because it's one of my favorites of Ryan of all time.

Bodhi. Human teddy bear.

The Rea's got Bodhi a new outfit to keep warm on these chilly winter nights. It makes our little bundle a human teddy bear. He was so warm and cozy that he fell asleep in the baby bjorn on his walk.

I think we have an ice cream fan on our hands. Such focus!

Bodhi and his suds and designer duds

Nothing gets between Bodhi and his Calvin Klein onesie...except a diaper.

This is the first picture of Bodhi with a mohawk, meticulously constructed by his daddy.

Perhaps the cutest boy ever!

If this isn't the cutest video ever, I don't think my ticker could take one much cuter!!

It was such a gorgeous day today, just like summer at about 77 degrees. Cathy & Daniel are visiting from Sac along with Helga and Sepp, who are here from Austria. We spent the day outdoors at Balboa Park and enjoyed the sunshine. Here are a few pics from our adventures.

Balboa Park has a model railroad museum that I had never seen until today. It's a whole other world!!! Literally! There are replicates of I think the entire state's railroad system. It's multi-room, multi-media, some are daylight, some are nighttime. It's incredible. Sepp loved it and took pictures and video of the whole route. Bodhi was asleep in the stroller until one of the trains went right by the stroller and tooted it's horn, which woke him up. He just stared in amazement at the trains. Who knew there was a model railroad subculture? Except Sepp!

Bodhi's first time in a swing!

Last weekend while Ryan was playing tennis at the PB Rec Center with Kurt, Bodhi and I walked down to watch them and found a playground. They had a toddler swing so I put Bodhi in it to see how he felt about being swung three feet from the ground. Although he was swimming in the seat, he seemed mildly entertained. He was probably more entertained by watching the other kids run around the playground.
You can tell I'm not an avid lipstick wearer because I gave Bodhi a big smooch on his right cheek and was alarmed when I later saw a red rash on his face. Ohhh right. Lipstick!
