Well hello! Today is Mr. Bodhi Binns' 6-week birthday! What a whirlwind of love and sleeplessness it has been.
I feel like Ryan and I took a first-hand crash course on having a newborn at home and we've been learning as much about baby Bodhi as he has about us. Nothing can really prepare you for this adventure though, it's all about the first hand experience and luckily we have been blessed with an awesome kid so he has made it fun. I will say that I was looking over some of the pictures so far and while you can definitely see the change in Bodhi over the last 6 weeks, I look like I've aged 10 years!! Hopefully these sleep deprived bags under my eyes will disappear soon. Perhaps when he sleeps through the night? Perhaps not until he turns 18?
One of the most important lessons I've learned is not to make funny faces that require an open mouth within 6 inches of Bodhi's mouth or nether region as liquid of varying color, consistency and taste could eject at any moment.
Today Mr. Bode's girlfriend Lucinda came over. She is my friend Jessica's daughter and is a gorgeous older lady at 6 months.
Gaby, Carlos and Santiago came by last week and brought some yummy Thai food for us. Little Santi is 13 months old and walks and drools all over the place!! When he gets excited, he puts his forehead against something. For example, when he came up to Bodhi, which I hear he hasn't seen a newborn before, he wanted to play and was bouncing his hand on Bode's feet. Mama Gaby spoke to him in Spanish (he doesn't understand English) and said "suave, un bebe" for him to be gentle. Then he started to understand and put his forehead on Bodhi's feet. It was so cute and absolutely hilarious. I wish I would have gotten a photo!! Evidently he does it to anything he really likes.
And he really likes Bodhi!
(Little Santi's bib says "What are YOU looking at")
Aunt Ronalyn has been able to fit in visits to Mr. Bode during her hectic and very busy work days. He really gave her some great smiles in this picture, which made it hard for her to want to go back to work!He can't actually hold his head up all the time just yet, but this little seat props it up nicely. He does hold his head up for short bits but then plops it down like a drunken sailor.
Little did I know 6 weeks ago that my life would be so full of love for my little 11 pound sack of potatoes. Besides his funny faces, my favorite time with him is when I get him in position to breastfeed and he looks up at me with those big eyes and opens his mouth wide for me with a look to say "well, what are you waiting for?
Now I know why I haven't blogged more. This post took me over an hour and I should be sleeping!!
